CASA DE DOS

Las cortinas son el vestido de las ventanas (wow! un aplauso jajaja), y aunque suene poético, es una realidad que muchas personas no aceptan y comente varios errores de interiorismo a la hora de decidir sobre si colocarlas o no, o sencillamente sobre como colocarlas.

Una de nuestras habitaciones (o mas bien todas) solo tenía cortinas blancas que permitían la entra de luz pero no la vision, fue una forma rápida de colocar cortinas luego de mudarnos, pero a la hora de contener esa luz en las mañanas, era imposible. Asi que me arme de valor e inverti en hacer unos paneles rectos de cortinas black out y asi aprovechar el momento para colocar correctamente las de esa habitación.

Curtains are windows dresses (wow! Applause hahaha), and although it sounds poetic, it’s a reality that many people do not accept and make several decor errors when deciding whether to place them or not, or simply on how place them.

One of our rooms (or all of them) only had white curtains that allowed light to enter but not vision, it was a quick way to place curtains as we moved in, but when it comes to containing that light in the mornings , it was impossible. So I plucked up the courage and invested in making straight panels of black out curtains and took advantage of the moment to place the ones in that room correctly.

Lo basico:

Si vamos a colocar cortinas la primera idea es que abiertas queden entre el borde de la ventana y parte de la pared, esto da una sensación de amplitud y visualmente hace que la ventana, por mas estrecha que sea, se agrande.

La según idea es la altura del soporte de la cortina, y aquí es que mas se cometen errores, pues muchas veces la colocamos justo al inicio de la ventana lo cual visualmente te acorta la altura de la habitación; o la colocamos a una distancia entre el inicio de la ventana y el techo que no solo hace que se achique la altura de la habitación, también nos indica que la ventana no es lo suficientemente alta.

The basics:

If we are going to place curtains, the first idea is that they remain open between the edge of the window and part of the wall, this gives a feeling of spaciousness and visually makes the window, no matter how narrow, enlarged.

The second idea is the height of the curtain rack, and here where more mistakes are made, because many times we place it right at the beginning of the window which visually shortens the height of the room; or we place it at a distance between the start of the window and the ceiling that not only makes the height of the room shrink, it also indicates that the window is not high enough.

Entonces, cual es la correcta? 

Todo depende de tu espacio, pero si hablamos del standard de habitación, una distancia de unos 10 cm de techo a soporte de cortina es lo recomendado pues arquitectónicamente te incrementa la visual de la habitación pues hace que el ojo recorra toda la cortina; y en sentido de interiorismo, te genera elegancia (piensa en las altas ventanas parisinas) y grandeza a la habitación.

So which one is correct?

It all depends on your space, but if we are talking about the room standard, a distance of about 10 cm from the ceiling to the curtain support is recommended because visually it increases the hight of the room as it makes the eye travel the entire curtain to the top; and in an interior design sense, it creates elegance (think of the tall Parisian windows) and grandeur in the room.
